Turkey Trot
The 5th annual Turkey Trot was held on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 24, 2022.
One of the newer Cabin John traditions, the CJ Turkey Trot gives Cabin John residents and friends a chance to join their neighbors in a family-friendly approximately 2.5 mile run/walk on Thanksgiving morning. The annual trot, started in 2017, takes participants on a scenic loop along MacArthur Blvd., down to around the C&O Canal and back up over the Union Arch Bridge. There is water and light refreshments at the end of the race.
While the trot is free, in the spirit of Thanksgiving, all participants are asked to bring non-perishable grocery items for Manna Food Center’s Smart Sack program, which provides backpacks of food each weekend to some 2,850 Montgomery County school kids. Popular food items include jars of peanut butter, boxes of granola bars, instant oatmeal, canned vegetables and fruits.
