Potomac River Canoe Trip
For more than 20 years, dozens of Cabin Johners gather for an annual group paddle on the Potomac River. Canoes and kayaks can be rented by Calleva, which also provides guides and instruction, or people bring their own. Paddlers bring their own lunches to be enjoyed at a scenic spot along the way. The temperature is usually warm, so a dip in the river, whether expected or not, is actually quite enjoyable. Registration fees and support from the CJCA cover the cost of the experience, which is organized by former CJCA President, Burr Gray. Burr is a founder and president of Friends of the Cabin John Creek, which works to protect the Cabin John Creek Watershed.
