Potomac River Canoe Trip
For more than 10 years, Cabin Johners have gotten out on the Potomac River each summer, usually in mid-July, for a day long expedition that starts in mid-morning and ends by late afternoon. CJCA coordinates and subsidizes a portion of the trip. People bring their own lunch, to be eaten at a scenic spot along the way, and CJCA provides a special mystery dessert that astonishes the group when unveiled. Our numbers are usually between 25 – 60 participants; some of whom use the canoes or kayaks provided by Calleva, while others bring their own. The temperature is usually warm, so a dip in the river, whether expected or not, is actually quite enjoyable. Paddling instruction is provided prior to setting off, but people do tip over. No question about that. But that turns out to not be the worst thing in the world. Contact Burr Gray – email@example.com if you want to participate.
