CJ HOUSE TOUR, MAY 3 – HOW TO GET YOUR TICKETS
We welcome you to participate in the Cabin John House Tour on Saturday, May 3, from 1-5pm, rain or shine. Nine fascinating houses in Cabin John will be open for you to enjoy thanks to the generous cooperation of their owners. Tour participants can see one of the oldest homes in CJ, one of the newest, several award-winning designs, stunning renovations featuring light-filled rooms and wood views, including one overlooking the C&O Canal/Potomac River, lush exteriors, an expanded original Sears “kit house,” and unique stonework and art collections.
TICKETS – Tickets for this event are $25 per person and are limited to persons over the age of 12. Tickets can be purchased in person with cash, check made payable to CJCA, or Venmo in the parking lot of the Clara Barton Neighborhood Recreation Center, 7425 MacArthur Boulevard, on April 30 from 9-10am and 12-1pm, May 1 from 6-8pm, or May 3 from 12-3pm, or online using a credit card (+fee) at https://2025-house-tour.cheddarup.com. Each participant will be asked to sign a waiver form and will receive an entrance ticket, house descriptions and a tour map. Proceeds from the tour will be donated to the Cabin John Citizens Association.

CJCA NEWS: APRIL & MAY CJCA MEETINGS
Please join your neighbors at the April meeting of the CJCA. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, April 23 at 7:30pm at Clara Barton Neighborhood Recreation Center. You can also join online at https://meet.google.com/kga-refj-dix. This month’s topic will be crime and crime prevention. Our Montgomery County Community Liaison Officer Desmond Johnson will be attending to lead the discussion.
CJCA’s last meeting of the year will be Wednesday, May 28th at 7:30pm at Clara Barton Neighborhood Recreation Center. Online at https://meet.google.com/tpr-rbor-kyo. May’s topics include a presentation on Plummers Island and also the election of CJCA Officers for the 2025-2026.

PUBLIC WORKS CORNER
Virginia Beltway–In Spring 2025, I-495/Beltway travelers just south of the Maryland border will experience something new. Instead of driving on the current lanes that have been in service since this stretch of the Beltway opened in 1962, motorists will ride on newly constructed lanes that are being built on the outside of the current Beltway alignment. The traffic switch for both north- and southbound I-495 will be implemented in phases, as sections of the new, outside lanes are completed.
Westbard Redevelopment–With Giant, Montgomery County Liquors, Oak Barrel & Vine, and Tatte open, this redevelopment effort is entering its second phase with construction in the area formerly occupied by Giant. New apartments, townhomes and retail space will be completed in 2026, along with green space, a park and more parking. Additional information can be found at www.westbardsquare.com.
