Get Ready for the Cabin John History Run & Walk on Saturday May 6 at 7:30am
But what is it?
⇒ All are welcome to join either an enjoyably-paced 10K jog or an easygoing 5K walk through Cabin John and adjacent neighborhoods.
The 2023 History Run & Walk has a focus on Education and Civil Rights. We will stop for a bit of discussion at each site – bring your knowledge and your questions.
When is it?
⇒ Both the joggers and the walkers will start at 7:30am on Saturday, May 6th.
Where do we start?
⇒ We will start at the Captain’s Market, and end at the driveway of 7507 MacArthur Blvd (Lewis’s home). Corner of 75th Place and MacArthur.
Will there be food?
⇒ Yes! Snacks, water, and Gatorade will be available at the end (7507 MacArthur).
I have a soccer game to go to, can I drop out half-way through?
⇒ Of course! We’d be happy to have you join any part of either event.
I want to come! What should I do next?
⇒ Please register at https://tinyurl.com/5d7vpxet. You’ll have the opportunity to register for the run or the walk.
Can I get a map with stops and historical descriptions so I can do this on my own?
⇒ Sure, we’ll post that on the CJ Website afterwards. But what better way to spend a lovely Saturday morning than with your friends and neighbors.
Lastly, a big thank you to Elliott Schoen and Meredith McGuire for conceiving of and leading the 2023 History Run/Walk, and to Judith Welles for compiling and sharing her comprehensive knowledge of Cabin John history in her book and writings, on which this “Education and Civil Rights” focused itinerary rests.
