The Pandemic Did Not Rain on Danny Harris’s 95th Birthday Parade
Danny’s 95th birthday celebration kicked off a few days before his May 2 birthday when the Cabin John Park Volunteer Fire Dept. brought their 1930 Brockway Fire Engine by the house to wish him well. Danny’s great grandson, Anthony Farris, born and raised in Cabin John Gardens, is a county police officer. He arranged for squad cars to come by with lights flashing to give Danny a salute.
A proud World War II veteran, Danny’s military service was recognized by Stefan Luteijn, an assistant naval attaché with the Embassy of the Netherlands and a Persimmon Tree neighbor. He presented Danny with a friendship pin from the Royal Dutch Navy saying, “The Dutch are grateful to the United States for saving Europe and grateful for you for serving in World War II.”
