In Cabin John for the 4th of July? We’ve got your patriotic fun all planned out! Join your neighbors for the annual Cabin John parade and party in honor of our nation’s Independence Day.
Bike, stroller and people decorating gets underway at 10:30 am at the 6400 block of 79th Street. The Cabin John Citizens Association will provide decorating supplies for parents to use to help their kids prepare their rides and themselves for the parade.
The parade itself gets underway at 11:00 am, starting at 79th Street, just below MacArthur Blvd. The parade will head down the bike path along MacArthur Blvd. to 75th Street and end at the playground behind the Clara Barton Community Center.
After the half-mile parade stay and enjoy some refreshments, the reading of the Declaration of Independence and some fun for the kids.
Adult and student volunteers are needed. SSL hours are available for middle school and high school students who are able to help with the decorating, keeping the parade participants moving along the route, managing a few postparade games and helping with clean-up. Contact Stephanie Lai at laifamily2002@gmail.com to sign up. Adult volunteers should contact Irena Bojanova at ibojanova@gmail.com if you are willing to be a parade route marshall or help out with the post-parade playground party.
