The May 25 meeting of the Cabin John Citizens Association was a lively combination of election of new officers and tribute to outgoing President Burr Gray. Burr kicked off the meeting with touching remarks summarizing his 19 years in office. He reminded the crowd of more than 50 Cabin Johners of funny moments, thanked his fellow officers from over the years and the many volunteers who have given so much time and effort to events, and talked about the amazing community that we have here in Cabin John. As his final act in office, Burr oversaw the election of a new slate of officers, which was approved with a unanimous voice vote. Serving as President will be Susan Shipp; as Vice President, Greg Pawlson in interim status until a full time Vice President is chosen; as Treasurer, Clare Amoruso; and as Secretary, Amy Elsbree.
As Susan Shipp took charge of the meeting, Burr presented her with several items for safekeeping
by the new CJCA President including historic photos of Cabin John, a silver dish left from the
Cabin John Bridge Hotel, and the official CJCA gavel. Susan accepted the items and offered the
assembled Cabin Johners her commitment to serve the community as President.
