The Oct. 5 community blood drive drew 34 donors, most of them Cabin John residents, and collected 32 pints of blood for the Red Cross. The drive, held at the community center, exceeded expectations, surpassing the 30-pint goal set by the Red Cross.
Cabin John hosts three blood drives annually. The Cabin John Community Association sponsors the drives, which are organized by CJ resident Karen Melchar. CJCA President Burr Gray thanks the following people who helped with the October drive: Tina Adler, Sondra Baxt, Larry Heflin, Lisan Martin, Scott Lewis, Bill Jobst, Susan Shipp, Nancy Shaw and, of course, Karen Melchar.
