With the weather forecast calling for significant rain Friday into Saturday, the Cabin John Creek Cleanup originally scheduled for April 20 is being rescheduled for Saturday, April 27th from 9:30 a.m. to noon. “Even though the weather on Saturday looks good, it is never a good idea to send a lot of people down to the Creek when things are slippery and the water levels might be higher than normal. So, we are postponing the Creek cleanup for one week to Sat April 27,” said CJCA President Burr Gray. “The weather on the 27th is supposed to be nice. Hope to see you there.”

Help Cleanup Cabin John Creek April 20
The scenic Cabin John Creek, which creates a natural neighborhood boundary to the northeast, is in need of some TLC and the Cabin John Citizen’s Association hopes you can help. Please join your neighbors for the 17th annual Cabin John Creek Cleanup on Saturday, April 20 from 9:30 a.m. to noon.
Volunteers should gather at the playground in Cabin John Local Park, by the one-lane bridge. Gloves and garbage bags are provided along with refreshments. Old clothes and sturdy shoes are recommended. The cleanup takes place rain or shine, unless there is heavy rain. Children ages 12 and under must be accompanies by an adult.
The event is organized by the Friends of the Cabin John Creek Watershed, a volunteer environmental action group started in 1999 by members of Cabin John Citizens Association in Cabin John, Maryland. It’s membership now includes other citizens associations and interested citizens within and outside the watershed, including residents of Glen Echo, Bethesda, Potomac and Rockville. Groups who want to tackle a section of the river trail can contact Burr Gray at burrgray@aol.com or by cell at 240-753-5918 to coordinate.
